To Become a Real Estate Agent — details of step 1

on Thursday, 25 March 2021. Posted in Licensing Process

Things You Should Know and Do Before and during Step 1

Step 1:

Before you decide to register at the UBC Sauder School of Business, you may want to make sure that real estate career fits your personality and character.

We don’t want to discourage anybody from a lucrative career, and it is a fact that there are very successful real estate agents. However, they did not achieve that level of success without effort, because they are no different from successful people in any other industry. They figured out what they are good at, and they pushed themselves beyond their limits to achieve success.

Just because you see some successful real estate agents, that does not mean that real estate career fits your personality – again, as the saying goes, “in all types of professions there are successful ones” – unfortunately the 20/80 rule is widespread and applicable to all types of occupations.

The bottom line: Know what you are really good at — work with your strengths; research all the ups and downs of this industry; invite more than one real estate agent out for coffee and ask as many questions as you can muster. Listen carefully to what they say, how they say it and make some notes to compare and review later. You may even want to consult a professional career consultant (a recruiter, a tutorial program or a managing broker are NOT career consultants).

Once you decide real estate is the career for you, if you are 19 years or older, have no criminal record and qualify for the BC Financial Services Authority's English Language Proficiency Requirement then you can register for the Real Estate Trading Services Licensing Course at UBC Sauder School of Business.

If you are not graduated from a recognized university degree program at an accredited university, college or technical institute at which English is the primary language of instruction, then we suggest you register for the UBC Real Estate Trading Services Course after you achieve a level 7/12 or higher on the Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program - General (CELPIP-G) test.

You may register online at: UBC Sauder School of Business
Or by calling: (604) 822-8444

Once you are registered, you have to study and understand an 850-page textbook inside out; study 1,000 examination guide questions and study and submit 20 assignments that have 400 questions.
