We Value Transparency - What to Know Before You Enroll

Before choosing a real estate course, it's important to review the school's terms and policies carefully. This helps you understand what to expect — including refund policies, class structure, and what support is available if you need more time.

Unfortunately, some programs make their policies difficult to find or unclear. Students only discover the details after enrolling — and by then, it may be too late.

At Excel Realty Academy, we believe in complete transparency. Our policies are clear, straightforward, and aligned with how we actually teach and support our students.

We encourage you to compare our terms with any other real estate course in BC. The difference is in the details.

Terms and Policies

UBC Bulletins

  • Important course updates and revisions are posted on the UBC Course Resources Webpage.
  • Students are responsible for reviewing all information contained in these bulletins, including any updates to materials or assignments.

Electronic Devices

  • Audio recording, video recording, and photography are strictly prohibited in our self-paced, online Zoom, and in-person classrooms.
  • Violations will result in immediate expulsion without refund and may lead to legal action.
  • In-person class participants: Please step outside the classroom if you need to take or return phone calls.

Reproduction of Materials

  • All Excel Realty Academy course materials are copyrighted and trademarked.
  • Copying, teaching, selling, or distributing our materials in any form is strictly prohibited.
  • Any student found sharing or reproducing our content will be expelled without refund and prosecuted.

Refund Policy

Registered Excel Realty Academy students may cancel their tutorial course and receive a refund less a 20% administration and processing fee, up to 15 full days prior to the first day of class. For the Self-Paced course, which has no scheduled class start date, this window runs for 15 full days from the date of purchase.

Refund conditions are as follows:

Within 15 days before the class start date (or, for the Self-Paced course, within 15 days of purchase):

  • The course fee becomes non-refundable.
  • Students may, however, register for another class within six months by paying 50% of the course fee.

If a student cancels or reschedules again:

  • The second payment is also non-refundable.
  • The student may register for a third set of classes by paying the full course fee.

After the class begins (or, for the Self-Paced course, after the 15-day window closes):

  • The course cannot be paused, deferred, or transferred to another date or person.
  • No refunds will be issued; however, students are eligible for a 50% discount on registration for a new class within the next six months.

The six-month window for the 50% re-registration discount runs from the date you cancel or withdraw. This is separate from your 6-month course access period, which runs from the date of purchase — the two do not need to align, and using the discount starts a new access period.

Refunds will be issued using the same method of payment originally used.

Missed Classes

  • Life happens, and occasionally you may need to miss a class. You may reschedule up to two missed classes into another running cohort at no additional cost, subject to space being available.
  • Beyond two missed classes, you can catch up by watching the same material through our pre-recorded videos, which are always available for the length of your access period.
  • However, if you cannot commit 100% to attending your real estate classes and studying consistently at home, it may not be the right time to register. We kindly ask that you wait until you can fully commit before enrolling.
  • If you anticipate irregular attendance, have limited availability, or cannot dedicate a few hours per day to study until you pass the real estate exam, we strongly recommend postponing your registration until your schedule allows for success.
  • At Excel Realty Academy, we invest time, energy, and personal attention into helping our students succeed. In return, we expect the same level of commitment, focus, and determination from every student.
  • Our programs are designed for individuals who are serious, motivated, and ready to achieve their real estate license goal.

Payment Methods

  • All fees are fully payable upon registration.
  • Payments may be made by cash or e-transfer (payable upfront), or;
  • Payments may be made by credit card (online registration only).
  • Payments may also be made in installments through our third-party payment processor; however, installments must be paid when due regardless if a student drops out, puts their studies on hold, etc.

At Excel Realty Academy, we stand behind the quality of our program and the support we provide. Our policies are designed to reflect that commitment — clear, fair, and focused on helping you succeed.

Installment Plans

  • Installment plans are administered by a third-party payment processor. Each installment must be paid when due, regardless of whether you continue attending, drop out, or put your studies on hold.
  • If an installment is missed, we may suspend your access to classes and online materials until your account is brought up to date.
  • Suspension does not pause or extend your 6-month access period.
  • The full outstanding balance remains payable, and unpaid balances may be referred to our payment processor or a collection agent.

If We Cancel or Reschedule a Class

  • If we cancel a class or a cohort before it begins, you may choose either a full refund of the course fee with no administration fee deducted, or a transfer to the next available cohort at no additional cost.
  • If we cancel a class partway through a cohort, we will reschedule it. Where we cannot reschedule within your access period, we will extend your access by the equivalent time.
  • If we need to change a class time, date, or delivery format, we will give you as much notice as we reasonably can.

Access to Online Training

  • If a student shares access credentials with others, this privilege will be revoked immediately, and the student will be expelled without refund.
  • Access is available for six months from the date of purchase, plus any extension granted under our free repeat policy below.
  • If you withdraw from the course, or postpone or reschedule beyond the two rescheduled classes allowed above, your place in the in-person or Zoom classes ends and your access continues through the online study component only, until your access period expires.
  • Missing the mock exam class does not extend your access period. Registering early simply gives you more time to prepare.
  • Additional conditions may apply to complimentary online materials.

Free Repeat Before Writing the UBC Exam

Students may repeat the course at no additional cost before writing the UBC exam only if they have completed the full scheduled program, including:

  • Live Online and In-Person students: all 12 classes and the full mock exam class.
  • Self-Paced students: all video modules and all 6 mock exams.
  • Continue directly with the repeat schedule without taking a break after completing the program.

This repeat option is available only when the student continues preparing right away after completing the mock exam. It does not apply if a student skips classes, misses the mock exam class, postpones any class, takes a break after completing the program, or returns later expecting to repeat for free.

As part of this support, online training access may be extended by an additional 2 months.

Free Repeat After an Unsuccessful Exam Attempt

If a student writes the UBC real estate exam and does not pass, they may attend the classes one more time at no additional cost, provided they meet all of the following conditions:

  • They completed the full Excel Realty Academy program — for Live Online and In-Person students, all 12 classes and the mock exam class; for Self-Paced students, all video modules and all 6 mock exams
  • They wrote the UBC exam within 3 months of their most recent Excel Realty Academy class (or, for Self-Paced students, within 3 months of completing the program)
  • They contact Excel Realty Academy within 14 days of receiving their exam result
  • They provide their exam performance or assessment report within the same 14 days
  • They restart in the next available schedule, or within 30 days for Self-Paced students

For students repeating after an unsuccessful exam attempt, online training access may be reset to 3 months to support continued preparation.

Six-Month Program Support Limit

  • Course access, online materials, and support run for 6 months from the date of purchase.
  • This 6-month period can only be extended by the free repeat policy above: an additional 2 months when you qualify for a repeat before writing the exam, or a fresh 3 months from your restart date when you qualify for a repeat after an unsuccessful attempt.
  • Nothing else extends it. Missed classes, postponed schedules, personal delays, travel, work conflicts, and breaks in study do not add time.
  • Once your access period ends — including any extension — access and free repeat privileges expire. Continued access to classes, online materials, mock exams, or support requires re-enrollment at the full course fee.

Purpose of the Free Repeat Policy

  • Our free repeat policy is meant to help serious students stay on track, maintain momentum, and prepare properly before writing or rewriting the UBC real estate exam.
  • It is not intended to create unlimited access, open-ended support, or a lifetime student arrangement. Students are responsible for progressing through the program in a timely manner and making reasonable efforts to complete their licensing preparation within the structured support period.

Free Trial Class

  • The free trial is one full class, attended either in person or over Zoom, at no cost and with no obligation to enroll.
  • Attending a trial class does not start your 6-month access period. That period begins on the date of purchase if you go on to register.
  • Trial attendance is subject to space in a running cohort and is arranged with our team.
  • Our classroom conduct, recording, and materials policies apply during a trial class in the same way they apply to enrolled students.

Referral Offer

  • When you and a friend both register, each of you receives $50 off your course fee. The discount is applied at registration — it is not a cash payment or rebate.
  • The discount can be combined with other discounts or promotions we are running.
  • The offer applies once per person and is used up when the discount is applied to a registration.
  • Both people must complete registration for the discount to apply to either.
  • Please only submit a friend's details if they are happy for you to do so — we will contact them about the referral.

Conduct and Expulsion

  • Expulsion without refund applies to the specific breaches set out above: recording or photographing our classes, copying or distributing our materials, and sharing your access credentials.
  • Before expelling a student, we will tell them in writing what the breach was, unless the breach is one that also puts us at immediate legal risk.
  • A student who has been expelled may appeal in writing to our founder within 14 days. We will review the appeal and give a written decision.
  • Expulsion does not cancel any outstanding installment balance.

General Terms

  • Registering for a course means you accept these terms as they stand on the date you register.
  • These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply in it. Any dispute will be dealt with in the courts of British Columbia.
  • The physical study binder provided with the In-Person course is yours to keep and is not returnable. Where a refund is issued after a binder has been provided, its cost may be deducted.
  • If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
  • Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under British Columbia consumer protection law.

We may update these terms from time to time. The version published on this page is the one that applies, and the date below tells you when it last changed. Changes do not alter the terms that applied to a course you have already registered for.
